Originally Ours is a Compilation of Original Tunes for all the Country Dances published by The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society. Since its formation, the RSCDS has published a large number of dances in more than 55 books and 30 leaflets. Originally Ours’ two volumes contain original tunes for almost 700 dances, and the tunes for most of these are taken from the original RSCDS publications. The idea came from George Meikle (he did most of the work although helped by many musicians too numerous to mention here), and was first published in one volume, now re-published as Originally Ours Volume 1, covering the RSCDS numbered Books 1 to 45 and Volume 2 bringing us up to Book 50 all the rest of the RSCDS publications including the Graded Books 1, 2 and 3 and Book of Leaflet Dances.
